Cars let down by their interiors..

Reading the CTR vs Focus RS topic got me looking at second hand RS's. I've always loved the chunky look of the RS from the outside, but the interior is a real let down, in my opinion.
There's just something about the trim of the seats and the blue on the wheel which looks a bit naff.
Also, a while back I was looking for a nice special edition of something. I thought of the Vauxhall Astra 888 special they did a few years ago. While the outside looks quite sporting, the inside is a bit of a let down; the centre console is the clincher for me, unfortunately..
It's probably just my opinion towards garish interiors, but I'm sure there are many many other examples of this..

The Focus RS interior is hideous, looks like it was used to ram-raid Halfrauds, but that kind of look is "massif" or "dope" or whatever it is they say down on the council estate these days.
The blue dials look ok, they looked good on the Lancer Evolution VI too, but the seats and the steering wheel are minging. Ok, you could swap the seats, wheel and gear gaiter for something less tacky but by then you've spent the thick end of £1000 (or more) and ended up on damaging the value of the car unless you return it to standard to sell it, and then you are left with a bunch of stuff to clutter the garage with.
Ford are pretty good at this actually, I recall the Racing Puma getting the same Essex treatment, except that didn't even get a leather steering wheel, just some crappy blue cloth sections on the wheel that stretched over time, eventually gaining ripples in the fabric that could never be removed short of re-trimming the blue sections. Creased wheel with your FRP sir?

The steering wheel is the killer in the Focus - truly horrific. As for the rest, not my taste but there are far worse crimes in far more expensive cars, even if often a user choice.
I'd take the Focus (bar wheel) over, for example, one of Porsche's special colour code interiors
Anyhow, far better to have money spent on the good stuff (as per the RS) than on rubber dashboard paint and the like.

I quite like the Astra Coupe 888 interior. I can imagine it being less fun to live wih than it is to look at but for an old Astra it looks pretty good with the striking blue alcantara.
The Focus RS must surely get a mention here. Unlike the Astra 888, which you're not necessarily expecting to be great, the RS badge carries some weight. Sadly, the Focus RS looks like a bad Halford's window display. For one thing, Sparco seats? Why not a better seat from Recaro? Overall the seats are probably the ugliest bit, but the blue steering wheel is pretty naff too. I found that detail a bit tacky even in the mk5 Fiesta Zetec S! The gearstick and shifter are nice touches and the blue dials look good too. It has a touch of the Mondeo ST200 about it, but is largely ruined by swathes of that awful blue leather.

Interesting, I was a bit disappointed by the feel of the 996 interior when I sat in one. To look at them in photos I think the 996 has a nicer/cleaner design than the fussy 997, but the actual feel was a bit more low-rent than I expected.Almost any '80s Alfa is worth a mention, particularly the split dash GTV with its dull blue instrument faces and no two parts that fit together properly, the Giulietta with its offset instruments pill and Eastern Bloc Tower central console, the 90 with it's diagonal stripe speedo... They were just weird.
