Think I'm going to simply
- remove air boxes
- sand them down and fill and sand imperfections
- spray a primer / undercoat
- 3 or so coats of gloss black (sand, polish etc)
- a coat of Clear gloss to finish
Sound about right?
That will be spot on, post pictures when you finish them. - remove air boxes

I want to paint my air boxes. They are the later non carbon look. I assume a bit of filler, sandpaper and some cans of paint... Any thoughts on the type of paint?
GazzabI have just done this and I used a mat black paint that you use for BBQ,s etc as a primer as it is heat resistant, then a gloss black paint and they look great and not cracks have appeared

Have you had any issues's with the wrap lifting off the air box due to heat melting the glue?
I was at my local meet and a chap with a AJP cerb had his air box's Carbon Wrapped and it was lifting off due to under bonnet heat.
Im guessing here.... but i think it would be ok on the Six as the exhaust manifolds are on the other side of the block.I was at my local meet and a chap with a AJP cerb had his air box's Carbon Wrapped and it was lifting off due to under bonnet heat.

I have got it lifting but only due to how I put it on. It's my first go at wrapping and got in a bit of a mess with it, I was surprised how well it came out after knowing where I was with it.I was at my local meet and a chap with a AJP cerb had his air box's Carbon Wrapped and it was lifting off due to under bonnet heat.
I will be having another go soon to correct what I now know was the wrong way to go about it.
When my engine was red hot with the fans coming on, I felt at the air box and it was quite cool, that's why I gave it a go, a V8 may be different due to the exhaust possition, I'll have to check the surface temperature sometime with my laser temp reader.
I know this isnt an answer to the original question, more an alternative.....

Also, type in "carbonmods" on youtube and watch their videos. I am thinking about making some moulds using the original airboxes, then buying the carbon sheet and resin (when i have a spare day or so).
