So recently had my car smashed into, want to get a diesel, saloon or estate £2k-£3kish max, preferably under 100k miles.

Mondeo tdci 2.2 155
Accord 2.2
Volvo D5 SE

These are my top runners, boring i know but having an economical car almost pays for me to have my fun car.

I know the Volvo quite well and think i can trust a good one but not had much experience of the diesel versions of the other 2.

Any experience or other suggestions? Most bmw`s seem to be a bit high mileage. Thanks

Have a look at the Avensis T180, 2.2l with 177bhp - looks very boring in some colours but decent in red with rear privacy glass IMO.

Vectra 1.9CDTi 150 - very reasonably priced.

Saab 9-5?

Go with the D5, just about the only decent sounding diesel and nice to drive!

MG ZT comes with a BMW diesel so should be as reliable as an equivalent x20d. Build quality was better on the pre facelift cars (the ones with the circular headlights rather than rectangular).

D5 are very good cars,

however you can get a very tidy rover 75 conessueir(executive edition) for 3k umder 100k miles and the facelift model.

if your lucky you can get the 131bhp one aswell.

i have one and has it since 60k on the clock now has 110k and has NOT once let me down, also comes with the bmw engine so its averaging 45mpg.

here you go, just had a look on autotrader and was very surprised to see this, http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

They have massive electrical problems due to water getting in everywhere!
Ideal in the UK eh?

Ask yourself why they are so cheap?
they are unreliable and plagued with issues.
