I decided to go ahead and cut up the dash to give easy access to the centre console, this way it is easy t take on/off..but also allows you acess so that removal is not necessary, very simple and i should have done it a long time ago.

Access hole cut and leather glued back around the edge.

Starting to make the cover plate.

Centre consle refitted.

Pic of lever to airbx that cntrols direction of air, cable removed and arm held in centre position permament, so that air gets evenly distributed through all the vents but less bias towards the feet.

Cable for heat control, a push pull lever will be fitted at a later date for this..but generally its set to cold permanent.
People who have removed centre console will know what a pain these cables can be and they generally do not work in compression, so nothings happens until the compression becomes so great that the lever flips to the other side..

Cover, carpet and knee pad back on

Job Finished

Pic of new Stereo surround and extra insulation/carpet the wheel arch panel to cover cables and create flat surface.

That's clever Chris but the leather trim makes it easier to disguise. Need to think about how it could be done with the standard dash.

i would just do it the other way round, leather clad or alcantara or carbon wrap the access panel and then overlap it on the outside, or even just same as i have done but make it a deliberate different colour to the dash to make a feature.
I think my trim needs some CF wrap now..i tried to do it all myself and it looked good but came unstuck, so i need to get them redone by a professional.

simple but extremely effective... fantastic mod

If I wasnt removing all the wiring from that pannel I would be doing the same.... BTW I made a new carbon binnacle last night ;-)

That looks great but I think it looks extra great because of the leather dash. Well done!
Loving the satin black centre panel too.
