DB9 Main Dealership or other dealers
Discussion
I always wonder why people would sell to a private dealer instead of a main dealer. I can only assume that the main dealer turned the car down for some reason. Often this will be because of mileage, but maybe they offer less than private dealers.
I think in retrospect I would buy from a private seller, or independant dealer, as long as I got an AM 140 point inspection and AM warranty as part of the agreement.

Wow, big assumption! I think in retrospect I would buy from a private seller, or independant dealer, as long as I got an AM 140 point inspection and AM warranty as part of the agreement.
The independednt dealer would offer more money for a start as they have less preparation work to do as unlikely to offer a full AM warranty. Also it might have been taken as part-exchange, though generally the independent dealers get their stock from main delaers who don't want to punt the cars on (and have taken them in part exchange - usually just too old!
I always wonder why people sell to a dealer full stop. P/Ex, sure, but outright sale... Guess sometimes you just want shot with no hassle!

That's a daft comment......agree with Yeti.....most main dealers don't want to sell cars older than 5 years as the cost of supplying a full AM warranty could put 5k onto the buying cost.......to the OP there are plenty of good quality cars available from private sellers and independent dealers......the old rules apply......do your homework......ring up whoever has previously serviced the car speak to the service manager, they probably know the car and it's owner......if unsure pay someone to check it out for you......good luck....half the fun of ownership is in the search I think in retrospect I would buy from a private seller, or independant dealer, as long as I got an AM 140 point inspection and AM warranty as part of the agreement.
Perhaps I didn't phrase it very well. Let me put it this way: when I was looking for a Vantage, my biggest worry was inadvertently buying one that had suffered structural damage and had been repaired. My logic was that a main dealer would be much less likely to buy in a car like this than a private dealer (see the thread on the damage/repaired Vanquish recently). Therefore when I saw a car for sale at a non-AM dealer that fulfilled the AM used car criterea - low mileage, recent, few owners - then I was automatically more wary.
