tick over rpm

[al 350i]

does anyone know what should the rpm on a 400 be at tickover?

and yes i have got it running!!! just totally ignored timing marks, plus new high power leads and a lot of luck

850, + or - 50 rpm, is usual for most RV8s. Mine will idle down to about 600 but the oil pressure gets a bit low down there.

Agree 850, a few years ago the MOT would give you a hard time if it was much higher (950-1000+) but I dunno if that's still a problem....

This is assuming everything is standard? 900rpm i reckon. That said mine struggles if set to that. Much happier at around 1200rpm! Hot cam see.................

seems to be happy at the higher end of 900 almost 1000, hope to take her for first drive some time this week so will see how she feels

My SEAC has a wild cam and like 1000rpm when it was on the flapper setup but with the new ECU it will tick over at about 930rpm but a little more would be better...

My 400SE is happier a litter higher also 1000rpm+ plus due to the poor design of the pump and the oil system, its not a bad thing to have them tick over a little high.

Run a 390SE with Megasquirt and it's happy at 1000 rpm.
