Been hunting for a nice M3 for a few weeks and now I have a dilemma.. I've found 2 that I can't choose between.
Number 1 is an 07 Melbourne red, manual, black leather, 32k miles, pdc, bmw history
number 2 is an 08 space grey, black leather, 45k miles, no pdc, 6 mths bmw warranty, Both cars the same price and both virtually
mint, (grey car prob slightly better cond) but both excellent.
Iam sure I would be happy with either car as they're both sensational.. But Would the red one be harder to sell on in the future?
Would the grey car be harder to sell on without the EDC? Not planning on selling for a couple of years but you never know.
Both look gorgeous in the flesh, grey car looks very classy, but red looks sensational and very aggressive,(Maybe its an omen but when test driving the red car another exact M3 in red passed me with the driver craning his neck in shock at seeing 2 x red ones passing each other) I know its a personal choice but would be interested in the PH advice, as I cant decide which car to put the deposit on, head says grey but heart says red.

If I was ever in the position to buy one of these at 6-7 years old i'd be looking for one minus the EDC - less to go wrong.

I'd imagine selling the grey one would be easier.

Buy the one with EDC - better option whilst you own the car and much easier on re-sale.

My saloon had EDC. The reason all the cars that BMW do lease deals on have EDC is to protect the residual and make re-sale at lease end much easier.

re: colour - by the one YOU like - the reason the world is full of black and grey cars is because everyone worries about the next owner - if its going to be your car, get the one you like the look of.

Personally the lower mileage would be a bonus, worth thinking about when the next service is due on both.

Cheers

You mention E90, so presumably saloon, but here's a gratuitous RED coupe shot for you ;-)

Plus you can then get the official BMW 1:87 scale model to go on your desk, try that in Space Grey!! lol

Sorry no its a coupe E92, Your red car is gorgeous, And it was a previous pic of your car that got me interested in a red one, Did you go looking for a red car? Or was it just love at first sight? What other colours did you view/consider? Does your car have EDC?
Im worried that one of the cars will sell before i've made my mind up, Maybe I should just toss a coin to decide.
Many thanks in advance for advice/ suggestions.

They look great in red. Red was my first choice but there weren't any around at the right price and condition when I was buying last year and I was too impatient to wait. Silverstone II was my close second.

Get EDC. It seems to be viewed as a "must have" (and, in my view, is well worth having).

Good luck with the hunt.

Red. It off sets against the carbon roof nicely and its got some rarity appeal.

I very nearly bought a black one, but my past two cars were black and I really fancied a change. Always wanted a red one, but it is deemed by some as a 'risky' colour - but unless it's black or grey, what isn't these days?! It was either white, silverstone II or red for me. White, everyone has them at the moment, and Silverstone, a little too 'feminine' for me (I had the E46 Edition model ages ago, the one with Silverstone 1 paint and blue leather, wife took the Michael the whole time I had it). The CF roof just looks great on the red (or the white or SSII) - although I think if I'd gone for a saloon that'd have to be black!

EDC is great, don't get one without. Wait until the right combo comes along. Logic7 (or Professional hifi I think it's called is also a must IMO...

Good luck!

red red red.

ETA: I'm not sure if this bothers you, but the early red cars were mostly press cars, so they might have had a hard life. The car above is actually featured in the autocar review, but at 30,000 miles now it's as tight as a nut.

nice dilemma on colours - i think both are great colours - edc i think is a must have on re-sale. i love the manual box on my saloon - assume they are both manual? don't think you'll regret buying one - i am still in honeymoon period with it and i bought it 2 months ago wink - in fact i have arranged two client visits this week - which are probably not strictly vital - but i just love driving the thing!
good luck whichever you choose

edited to reflect the fact you are looking at coupes

Space Gray with Fox red leather is a great combo.

I recently purchased a black one smile I think the EDC is a good option to have for function and resale. Also the USB port was something I really wanted as I missed not having it on my 335i.
