Projector help

Hoping this is the best place to ask advice although it isn't for a home system.

I'm looking to use a portable projector screen and protector to play dvd's of previous race meets of an evening when away at the track, I know nothing about projectors and would appreciate any advice.

My thoughts were, I need a projector screen and stand, a projector which I then link to a dvd player and a set of speakers, (all of this will run off a decent genny).

Have I got this right and will it work?

Also I'd be looking to buy second hand as this is something we'll only use 6 times a year so any advice of budget I should aim for (I'm not looking to create a drive-in movie quality) just decent enough to watch.
