Urgent Help Required!!!!
Discussion
Just bought a 4.5LW (2002) and due to leave on Thursday this week on a
two week European trip, yikes!
Jools (cerb god) has run his eye over it and the car keeps overheating at idle.
Basically the return of fluid to the expansion tank is minimal, when revs are applied
the flow is intermmitant. Currently have all pipes off with no blockage in sight?
Any ideas as to what could be causing this? hope its not the water pump as it's an engine
out job. Jools tells me he hasn't seen this before, which is a worry in itself.....
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Chim's currently in storage, and on standby.

Just had the same thing, and the thermostat was siezed causing it to over heat at idle ok whilst driving, and hope yours has not the other problem, head gasket had gone as well which is an engine out job any way, I would try a sniff test first to eliminate head gasket and if it fails that then engine out and check thermostat while egine out good luck, lucky you have Chim on stand by, I,am currently loking for a Chim for a new member to the fleet had one before and wife like to have the hood down which is a problem with a Cerb two week European trip, yikes!

Change the temp sensor... I know it says it's fine on the laptop but so did mine and yet it was fncked. I was getting over heating issues and every combination of water faults you can think of. Put on a new one and never a fault since. I know it's not the pump but you never know, you just never know and its a cheap fix.

I knew cerb ownership would be challenging, but I wasn't expecting it this soon!
Think I've aged a year in the last 24hrs.
Thanks again for all the suggestions, steep learning curve on it's way....

if it has been over heating alot I would do a sniff test just in case as you don,t want to be stranded on your trip, she looks very niceGassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
