Pull the fuel pump relay out and crank it over until you see pressure build up.

Also if any of that fails you could use vasaline to prime it like you do with the pre-serp RV8 engines.

Easiest way to prime a pump when they been dry is literally fill the engine with oil, take plugs out, spin it over till the oil light goes out and drain the oil to the Correct level. Worked for me plenty of times

Thankfully iv never had to do it to an ajp but it's worked with a lot that I have had trouble getting to prime, if the engine is full , the pump has no option other than to pick up the oil ( when I say full I don't mean brimmed but a good 3 or 4 liters over max)

Trust an ajp to be difference it works well with the Evo trackcar, pack the pump with whatever you like and it still doesn't prime up.

panic again i think winding it over with the plugs out for so long with no oil in the pump has fked the pump coz ive now only got 20psi at cold idleweeping

Oh dear that doesn't sound good although I'd hook a proper test gauge up and check it rather than relying on the 1 in the car

It'd be really hard to kn@cker an oil pump by turning it over without oil. It's much more likely that you've damaged a main / big end bearing - but even that seems extraordinarily unlikely unless you actually run the engine with no oil pressure?

Double check the pressure relief valve body and spring. If they didn't get put back in right or the spring is damaged that could be your problem.

thanks for all the replys it has new mains and end bearings (of the right size) when it runs it runs sweet so as i had good pressure before i was expecting the same or better, i have fitted a different oil filter and replaced the spring and bled the gauge but still only 20psi pressure can the pump rotors be replaced without pulling the motor?

For future reference you shouldn't really crank it over with no oil pressure as that means no oil is getting to the engine and wear can be done, even with it not actually starting. How long did you crank it for? (I know it still has some oil around the engine, but its not advised). The way to prime the oil pump is to fill the tubes both before and after the pump with oil, and the new oil filter full of oil (make sure the oil filter is exactly the same as the original). You can blow oil back through the tubes through the system using an air line (messy) but gets the job done, there is an old thread on here if you search where someone devised a pump using a power tool. You shouldn't have 20 psi though thats way too low, should be more like 70-80 on cold. Hope you get it sorted, keep us updated.
