Been thinking for a while what I can replace my 996 turbo with...

Well...the trade offers I have had have meant I have decided to keep it ... for now.

But I have just today put down deposit on a lovely 997 turbo. Black with black leather and well spec'd.

Cannot wait to pick it up...

What will happen to the 996? I will keep it for now and see how I get on. In the long-term I cannot afford/justify keeping both, so as long as I get along with the 997 the way I think I will, the 996 will be going in the next couple of months!!

p.s. Pics will follow when I have it home!!!

Exactly what I did took a huge hit on the 996 but worth it, huge step forward 997 Turbo is a tremoundous car. Though soon enough you'll be wanting gen 2;)

UPDATE:
Well finally got it home yesterday..wish had pushed them to deliver a week earlier to enjoy the weather but oh well.

So far...(200 odd miles)

General drive - '97 more refined and accomplished than the '96 and not as raw...the '97 is more of a cruiser (or as much that a turbo pork can be) whereas the '96 gives a little more unpredictability and is a little bit more on edge. (not sure which I prefer yet!!)

Speed - I must admit not much in it - they are both mind-blowingly quick.

Looks - love them both equally - although the headlights on the '96 take some getting used to - overall it is still distinctively porsche. the '97 is a little more subtle (as in the difference between the turbo and a carrera 997 isn't as dramatic IMO)

Overall, well having both cars on my drive at the moment, I cannot see what the extra £25k in the 997 has bought me YET. I will keep them both for a couple of months and see how I get on. (I didn't part exchange as I was getting such low trade-ins on the 996 as expected, plan is to sell it privately, eventually!)
