We have been trying to put a few more miles on our Tamora, since we bought it last year (2002 with only 13,500 miles).

Having found ourselves down South, we tried to get over one of these European hills today, but had to turn back at 8500 feet when lots of snow arrived and everything became very slidey even with the most gentle driving.

The new Toyo T1-Sport seem good in the dry, and in the wet (very wet today), but behave in snow as you might expect.

As had been mentioned by Track V Road when we bought the car, high altitude will cause an EFI fault warning. This occurred at about 2200 metres (7200 feet). The car drove fine though.

After we had turned back and were back on a grippy road surface.

Blimey, nearly June, and Tour De France isn't long off - not seen snow on the TDF climbs for years... all this global warming b*ll*cks

It'll probably be good by Tour time.

We would have made it over if the weather hadn't become really bad near the summit. Almost no grip made the decision to turn back necessary, but it resulted in a very long drive round.

I don't envy the job of anyone cycling up there, it is hard enough with 3.6 litres of power for the ascent.

Ahhh, see, that's where the human form has evolved over millions of years.... top racing cyclists have lung capacities of the order of 6 litres !! hehe

Spooky, five minutes ago I was talking with a work colleague who has a Lotus about the EFI fault code appearing at high altitude. It came up in 2004 when we drove our Tamora over the Sustenpasse in Switzerland.

One of those things you really need to know about, otherwise you need a set of brown trousers!

Made it down towards sea level today, where the Tamora instead failed to do a lap. The other cars on track got in the way too much,

I can advise all motorists to avoid Monaco and Nice. Monaco pre-GP was a pain, and Nice is just crazy. Tomorrow will be a bus into town while the TVR stays in a country hotel.

France has some good driving roads, but not down near this coast. Hopefully the Italian lakes will be better.

To make a positive from the last 2 days of continual rain, the Tamora's roof seems to be well sealed.

And the driver of a red 911 coming the other way in slow Monaco traffic took a photo of our car smile

On the start line, ready to unleash the power...
