I'd like to buy an OBD-II reader for my BMW E46 to reset the check engine light which pops on occasionally.

My friend has one of these which he kindly tried on my car and it worked: http://tinyurl.com/8y6nl8j

I was all set to buy one but I've seen this: http://tinyurl.com/7l9fxw2 which seems essentially to be the same thing, albeit OBDII to USB rather than via a serial/usb converter, with the same CAN BUS protocol, at a tenner it'd be a bargain if it works.

It is the 1.4a rather than 1.5a version but I'm not sure if that is an issue.

Before I hit the buy it now button, is there something obvious I've overlooked?

I have the same USB one and it works with my 2000 Volvo. I didn't have anything else to compare with though but it does the job for me.

I'd try the one for a tenner first. I have the silver ELM327 myself, which works well on the cars I tried it on smile
