M4 closed j16 to 15....still closed at night?

Was coming back from South Wales Friday night and got to junction 16 at about 10:30ish to find it was closed so had to take a horrendous detour through Hungerford and some really small villages at night, in the rain with no other bugger about. I noticed it was closed both directions and was wondering whether it was because of roadworks, if so.... Are they going to be there tomorrow night? Any idea what time it'll be open if they are still there?

Added a good 30mins or more to the journey, and a lot more stress!

i had the same.
did my friday round trip from basildon to merthyr, and caught the closure on the way home.
ended up coming off and following the diversion, (which wasn't that well signed) through swindon. seemed abit around the houses, and cost me approx 15 minutes extra. doesn't sound alot, but nearly was, as in the lorry we can do 4 and a half hours driving in one hit, before a required tacho break. if i get a clear run from merthyr, i can do basdildon in approx 4 hours 10 minutes.
with this diversion, i did it in 4 hours and 28 minutes

i guess the overnight works will finish sometime tonight, between midnight and 5am.

Swindon Advertiser said a biker fell off (seemingly losing control on their own) and died at the scene c9pm Friday night so probably related.
