Looking at this car asa track car, 2 main questions;
1. The car is fitted with 2.3 Duratec engine/Quaife sequential box fully rose jointed suspension and appears to my untrained eye to be very well put together, is it going to be a relaible track day car with minimal tinkering required or other...?
2. Come the day to sell assuming and it is still in a similar servicable condition, do non race cars take some shifting?
Many thanks.

Looks a nice car & would of cost a pretty penny to build in the first place for sure.
Added value coming from the spares package included however there is a limited market for a race only car & they asking for strong money.
Pal of mine bought a 303bhp race only Duratec car with the far superior Sadev sequential box for a lot less money last year as the guy was keen to sell.
Email me your number if you want more specifics or to discuss 7 specs & I will give you a bell to discuss.

Have you contacted the seller?.....i thought this had sold. Racecars direct has tons of out of date adverts.
Pretty sure it was rebuilt into a new chassis in 2010 after a major shunt, nothing to worry about if done properly, but i would get one of the CC race teams to once over it for you. The 2.3 cosworth 260 is a strong motor, there have been several update from CC, again the race teams can help you here to check if present. Don't agree that Sadev are far superior. They are however much lighter - both are relaible and cost baout the smae money. Actually i think the Quaife is now cheaper if you go down the flat shift route.
There is a pretty strong demand for CSR's at the moment for champs such as the Mag7's. An S3 chassis will not be as quick as the CSR with similar power and Mags in particular is attracting some very high spec cars.
Best of luck with the search, they are like hens teeth.

Hi went to look at the car on Saturday, to my untrained eye all seemed OK, was told that it was a fresh build in 2011 by himself, if this is not the case whether it was done right or not would kill the deal as I would have been told a lie, the gentlemans name is on the car are you sure its the same car you believe crashed? Many race cars are rebuilt - I believe this car had a big shunt at Snetterton in 2010/11 adn required a new chassis. Much more than that i can't tell you i am afraid.
There may be some confuaion in terminology of a new build as you put it. There have only been two official CSR race cars built by CC since 2008. I have the last one built that actually raced, then another was commisioned by a private buyer in 2012.
I am sure there is no deception, just a lot of race cars end up with chassis repairs or even complete new chassis. As long as these are done at Arch it won't have a negative effect on value - it is actually a bonus in my opinion.
I would make sure you know what is new and what is from the origional car with the seller and go from there.
Again having a new chassis is not something to be concerned about if done properly.

Hi, I think I know the seller and you should have absolutely no concerns buying from him. He did have a shunt in 2011 but not sure whether it was this chassis. When it re-appeared / new chassis came out, it was immaculate and he wouldn't have raced it if it wasn't A1.
After meeting him and speaking with him I agree, unfortunatly somebody else knew what they were looking at (unfortunatly Caterham is new to me)and bought it this morning.....Gassing Station | Caterham | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
