ive had a 2006 yamaha 125 scooter stored for a guy for six years. he agreed to pay me 100 dollars a month for letting him keep it in my basement problem is he never payed or showed up i believe he went to jail.the problem is i ran the vin number thru new york state motor vehicle and it has a lien from a bank. i really would like to keep it for my teenage daughter does anyone know what can i do or how to go about it? oh one more thing never had any written contract with this fellow because he was a friend.

" i think this is true" in the uk you can apply for the v5 (pink slip ) of any vehicle, even if it doesnt belong to you and say it has been abandoned, they will write to the owner on the current v5 and after a certain length of time , if there is no reply, they will then issue you with the v5 ( pink slip)

please dont complain if i havent got this quite right, but i believe it to be true

Sorry OP no ideas but I would imagine that whatever the circumstances the bank would trump your claim.
