Had a go round blyton a few weeks ago and had a great time but its clear the standard brakes on the front of my 04 wrx are not happy now, warped discs but thats fair enough

Intend to do a few more trackdays here and there but mostly just using the car on the road and fancy putting something a bit better on, options i am looking at are Tarox F2000 discs and either the corsa or strada pad

or EBC ultimax sport discs and yellow stuff (or blue stuff) pads

I know there some knowledge on here so would appreciate any advice!

I'm not looking to do anything with different calipers or bigger discs, just want some better materials

Loop for strap drive or two piece discs, but they are not cheap. The idea there is they are meant to stop the disc from "warping" by letting it move a little bit under braking, but in fact it's not warping that's the problem it's DTV (Disc Thickness Variation), the amount of 'run out' the disc develops over time which is amplified during hard use when the rotors get very hot and thus your steering wheel starts wobbling/vibrating like the clappers, it's not warping.

Most rotors(discs) in the market are much of a muchness. Have a look at the one piece rotors from MTEC Brakes. They are really good value for money and machined on the premises. They look good and you get a choice of drilled, slotted or a mix of both setups. A set of EBC BlueStuff or Performance Friction pads should do the job for your trackdays and general everyday driving pleasure.

After about 1000-2000 miles or so i would think about getting your new discs lathed in situ which takes into account any runout caused by any play in bearings or dirt/rust/grease behind the rotor when first fitted and think about running in your new rotors and pads this way: http://www.coordsport.com/blog/2010/05/performance...

contrary to popular belief, the original calipers are more than up to the job of stopping even a newage, theyre actually even better on a lighter classic, provided they are paired with decent pads and discs, the strap drive discs are good but prohibitively expensive for most people, have a chat with ian at godspeed brakes and he will sort you a decent set of discs out for good money, pads is left with you, if you can stretch to money no object stuff carbon lorraine are excellent, but pagid blues are usually good enough for light track work and fast road

With the added temperature your best and FRST mod is upgrade your Braske lines to braided and get good brake fluid.

I have Tracked all my Subaru's since 1999 and the lighter classic always benifited from a Brake upgrade to AP's The new a STi Brembo's are fine. Newagwe WRX are OK.

IF you change Pads fit the same breed on rear as front to keep brake balance the same rate during different heat cycles.

Dependant on use upgrade brake pad etc best solution is Performance friction Pads and Disc.

I have used EBC red and yellow (colours now change IIRC) EBC Blue, DS2500 good
OEM replacement Found PAGID expencive and not poor IMHO

If you go Bigger dics ensure you wheels clear.

Now that i've got my rotors i'm looking at pads. For a slightly left field choice and with no experience of or opinions/reviews to read i'm looking at Cabone Lorraine RC6 Compound, pad No.s 4047 and 4069.

Anybody have experience of these?

ETA: I've now found numerous reviews online and have decided to try the RC6 compound.
