Fault diagnosis (suggestions) please...

Morning all,
My little banger (2002 Pug 206 HDI) is misbehaving and I was hoping for a bit of guidance from the collective knowledge of PH, so I can do some further investigation / fault finding.
The main issue is that under acceleration the car is pulling left but at a steady / constant speed (under power), on overrun and under braking she stays straight and true.
I had new tyres on the front at the weekend (they were wearing unevenly (on the inner edges)) and had the wheel alignment checked / sorted but the issue hasn't gone away.
They didn't mention any other visible / obvious faults but I will take it back in for them to have another look.
Obviously the tyre place will only sort alignment etc but if it's anything more serious it'll be down to me to sort - so where's the best place to start looking for wear, breakages etc etc for which the pulling to the left would be a symptom.
Any and all advise gratefully received.

Did the issue start when the tyres were fitted? If so swap them left to right and see if the issue moves.
If not, get the car up on some ramps and look at the suspension bushes. I'd guess that either a bush on the left hand side that would get pushed backwards or a bush on the right that would get pushed forwards has gone soft or is worn.

The issue was there prior to the new tyres being fitted (I was hoping the alignment would solve the issue) but I can't actually remember when / how it started. To be honest she doesn't get too much love - driven 5mi to the station, parked all day, driven home, parked all night, repeat x5 - so it's just one of those things that crept in and I worked around for a while.If not, get the car up on some ramps and look at the suspension bushes. I know you say the fault was there prior to new tyres getting fitted ,but are you sure about that?
I had exactly the same problem when I had my snotter Rover 214 . On accelerating it pulled significantly to the left .. altho' it only happened after I had a tyre changed on the passeneger side.. it was a different tyre type to the one on the driver's side. Swapped it to the same brand/tread as the driver's side and it dissappeared.

Now you mention it, the wheel did definitely sit off-centre prior having the tyres done but I'm not entirely convinced there was a significant pull...I had exactly the same problem when I had my snotter Rover 214 . I did have both fronts replaced and aligned though, so you'd (I) assume it'd be something more than tyres / tracking!?
