When are your fans on?
Discussion
Got the car back from Colin yesterday
So happy, already done a tank of fuel. If I'm honest I had started to get a bit annoyed and almost regretting the purchase, but 1 turn of the key soon sorted that out
One thing I have noticed though, is that my fans are usually on when I come to a stop, doesn't really matter how long the journey is. The heater gauge doesn't show that it's over heating, sits at 65 ish apart from when pushed, it will then go up to around 70 but never much above.
Is this normal behaviour?

Mine does this but that's only because the switch to my fans stopped working so it's been bypassed (for the time being) so at least it's on all the time. Do your fans come on with the ignition ? Mine is the same, very rarley goes over 70. So happy, already done a tank of fuel. Check the cooling system, in particular the rad.
Don't just look from the back under the bonnet as the cooling fins can look perfect from above but looking up into the rad from the front grille often reveals another story.
Also, make sure the coolant system is topped up but don't rely on looking in the expansion tank. The exit from my expansion tank was blocked and whilst I assumed the system was full because the expansion tank didn't move, the reality was it was a third empty when I checked the top tank.
