I have a wonderful 2000 4.6 chim, blowing oil out everywhere, when re building engine, is engine stock Rover parts or do Tvr change cam, pistons, con rods etc and any special balancing required, who knows the true engine spec and does the bible tell all? Who sells the engine parts Inc oil pump etc. Thanks guys.

The 4.6 is a Range Rover engine, as for what spec and what is fitted, who knows?

Strip and ye shall find!

It's got a different crank to a Range Rover engine, look at the sump, there's a big dent on the forward part of it; TVR Power's hammers put that there, to clear the larger crank.

It's the 5.0 with the different crank and the hammered sumps, 4.6's are all rangie.

Are we talking Tvr 4.5 or range rover 4.6 here?

AFAIK - The 4.5 TVR is the same as the Range Rover 4.6 but with TVR reworked heads and a sportier cam with the intermediate Serp / preserp timing cover (ie not the GEMS timing cover) for dizzy drive.

ETA - because of the timing cover differences, the RR sump would not fit a TVR

Do you mean a 450 is different from a 4.6?

If not, I'm all ears!

No, a 450 Chimp is the same as a 4.6.

A TVR 4.5 is iceberg crank(small journal) ,14 bolt heads, probably pre-serp. 4444cc.

Think NCK engines ........

so if im right an april 2000 chim 450 is a rover cranked engine with sportier cam, could have all bin put together by Rover then? tvr must do something with the heads i aint known a ROVER rip my head off like my girl can,lol still feels so strong no smoke what so ever and excelerates as per spec!!! no real engine noise, but oil out crank seals, sump, timing cover, even in inlet manifold area, what can be so bad as to cause an engine with 45,000 to be so nice but so fked, terrible abuse is all i can muster, or ROVER really were crap?

yeah exactly, indirectly Ive learnt the difference between the race engnes and the stock ones used in the chim, anybody had Dom at Tvr Power build them an engine, what spec, and difference to performance figures if any, does it sing, oh and im interested in low to mid range massive torque figures, how do you tune engine to suit, errr are the pistons different in the tvr from landie?????

My rangie 4.6 didn't but the 5.0s have because of the throw of the crank.
