Just an opinion thing here really....

I have a 74 degree thermostat installed at the moment, and have never really had trouble with the car overheating - however I also think the engine runs a little too cold when cruising. I am able to change the settings in my ECU so that 'warm-up' enrichment doesn't kick in at too low a temperature.

I was just wandering if 74 degrees was too cold for an ideal engine temp in normal driving?

I agree I had my standard thermostat changed to a 74 degree one. I had this done in conjunction with a new 4 core alloy rad and I feel that is runs too cool now when cruising. I am going to change mine back.

83-84 is optimum temp... If your not running at this, you are putting all sorts of nasties into your oil.... You can't run cold....
Mine was the same but I upped it to 82 stat.. and the first fan on mine comes in at 85... Sorted...

74 is probably too low for the UK climate. Although looking out the window today???????????

I've tried a variety if stats too, and concluded 82 degrees works best for me.
