2006 Cooper convertible roof only opens 1st stage

The wife's mini roof has just started to play up and will only open as far as the sunroof setting,has anyone had any experience of this of what the problem may be.

Some thing to check.

1 Clear the are as paper etc can get in the way of some of the switches and sensors.

2 Check that nove of them have been hit moved.

Check in the boot , there is a 'cover' which sits on a switch to prevent the hood being damaged by a fully loaded boot , make sure the cover is sitting correctly .

As above, check the parcel shelf in the boot, it needs to contact the mirco switches on both sides or when you try to open the roof, the light will just blink red.

If it still doesn't, on the toggle switch panel where the window/fog light switches are, press and hold the central locking toggle switch in the 'up' position. This will do the same job as the roof opening switch.

In rare cases, the roof opening switch can error, using the central locking switch instead clears the error.
