"Raikkonen said: "I'd like to do Rally Finland this season as it fits with the calendar but you'll have to ask the team if it fits in my contract."

Sounds more like he just answered a question in an interview rather than having any specific plans.

It's not happening - apparently Lotus said something about 'been there, done that'

He used to race snowmobiles under another name didn't he, is that really any safer than rallying?

He's got a few motorbikes too...

He should turn up for the rally, be really smiley, and enthusiastically chat to everyone in the paddock.

No one would ever guess it was him.

Yeah, I know Kimi is held in high regard, but he's been a miserable bd for too long now.

Who cares? He's a racer. Why do we want our drivers to have personalities as well... I prefer to see the racing and switch off the PR nonsense...

I know what you mean but when someone has an extremely priviliged and enviable job it just grates a bit to see them act like a spoilt teenager who'd rather be somewhere else... probably a few GP2 drivers who'd like his seat.

I think Kimi does have a personality, he's the only driver that doesn't regurgitate a load of media manged bullst whenever a microphone is put in front of him.

Bit easier to fly under the radar at a snowmobile event than a televised, FIA championship.

I'll rephrase my point. I think he has a huge personality. I just think he keeps it to the track and his close friends. The media interaction and is a defence mechanism.

I love the old story from 2001... "However, some critics voiced concerns over granting an F1 Super Licence to such an inexperienced driver; Räikkönen had only 23 car races to his credit. He was nevertheless granted his license and scored a championship point in his debut at the 2001 Australian Grand Prix. Räikkönen was asleep 30 minutes before the race."

He is just very comfortable with himself I think...

Exactly.. Maybe he can be grumpy.. But i'd take an honest grump rather than a manufactured F1 version of a Miss World contestant, any day of the week.

Hamilton started to get honest for a while but he ended up with an adjoining apartment to the stewards, and that didn't last. He now loves everybody again. :-)

nice audi driver

I can't see Kimi being allowed to do the rally, and if the reports are true and he has "matured" I don't think he'll go against lotus. Purely speculation though!

Personalities fine but imo its starting to look like a bit of a 'brooding race driver' act... i.e. false

I don't think Kimi is grumpy/miserable, he's just well... Finnish.

I've seen him in some interviews and he's got a very subtle but very good sense of humour, in others he's just the typical reserved Finn.

I can't help but like the guy.
