No MORE BONNET FELT
Discussion
That looks like aluminum foil tape...I was going to use it on mine but if it gets a rip in it make sure you cover it as you will get heat damage on the bonnet..You might be better off going for the felt backed under bonnet insulation like cool mat or Dynamat..Also i might know of someone who can make the original foam/vinyl insulation with a TVR logo in it..It depends on how many...Cheers..Ziga

Just a quick note, the felt serves double purpose - there's a wire mesh behind it which serves as an RF screen, it's should be earthed to the bonnet struts.
With the car being fibreglass, there's an inherant lack of RF screening - can cause very poor radio reception, and possibly worse (take look where the ECU lives).

Been out there and ripped off my old bonnet insulation and the mesh as i dont have an ECU to worry about or a radio..I have used some alloy foil tape for now until i can get the bonnet off and put the proper stuff on..I couldnt be asked to take pics as me back was aching and i was being bothered by loads of tiny flies..Must be this amazingly hot weather we are suddenly having..Please...please..Please stay like this for the fest...Ziga

I used this
Click
There always helpful, comes off a 1000mm roll so pick whatever length you need, always found it best if the edges are folded over, like a hem, a cut edge looks poor and gets even worse quickly.
Chris.
This looks like the stuff that i have..I also bought some AF178 high temperature heat contact adhesive..Click

Hi Peeps..Well i removed the old sagging under bonnet insulation and did what superwedge did with some alli foil tape, I will take the bonnet off soon and fix on the proper stuff but to be honest it has helped the flow of air under the bonnet...The fan doesnt stay on so long and takes longer to come on so the air flow under the bonnet must of improved..I have also cut away a small section of the vent cover..1. As it was hitting the edge of the radiator and 2. To allow more heat to escape..I didnt remove it like someone has done on the other side?...I also fitted a set of TVR engraved door handles which i acquired from a friend..Very nice...Cheers..Ziga

You can just see my body on the right of the door handle...My head and feet are the same size but my body is mutated..Looks well funny..Hang on...Thats how i look anyway..

I took the felt of my 2.8 after it more or less collapsed onto the engine plenum - I'm surprised it didn't jam the throttle (it's right at the top on the 2.8 engines).
I haven't replaced the metal mesh, or used foil tape, I just cleaned off all the old glue (which was a mission in itself) sanded the worst bits, and painted it black with a spray can.
Rough I agree, but since then, no issues with radio reception, and bonnet doesn't seem to get all that hot. But then I haven't been caught in many traffic jams recently.
I can't tell if it runs any cooler as I had the rad cleaned out and resoldered about the same time after a leak.
There must be airflow out the bonnet vents ? Perhaps it's worse if you have a wedge with the 'solid' bonnet ??

got some sliver heat tape to keep it cool

that will keep the wedge cool, and may be some more looks too
...Ya bugger..I'd forgot about that...
