I seem to have oil leaking from the inspection cover of the gearbox bell housing. after removing the cover the inside of the bell housing was covered with oil.So far seems to be small leak.Bible says this is sign of rear crankshaft seal leaking.Anyone had similar problem.I currently have mobil 1 oil.would switching to a thicker synthetic oil solve the problem?

Mines had virtually everything done but crankshaft seals and it is still leaking a bit of oil.

I'm living with it at the moment as TVR have quoted about 5 hours labour to fix

IMHO, unless there is a significant leak (high oil consumption [tho this may have many other causes] or its makng a real mess of the drive / garage or underside of the car) or its getting onto the clutch (which is unlikely since its being spun off all the time and on the opposite side of the flywheel. Then unless (again sorry) its high mileage and / or due major work , then probably not worth worrying about as very few are totally oil tight. Sensible time to change would be at clutch renewal when GB already out and then just need to remove flywheel and replace the seal (which is the later annular lip seal , unlike the early - pre-SD1, engines with rope seals within the rear main bearing housing).
