Hybrid Bike HELP!!

I need some advice on getting a hybrid bike, few of my mates have now bought bikes and are enjoying the nice evening with rides. So now i need to buy one too lol

I been looking at bikes and to be honest the last time i had a bike I was 16, so its been a few years.

I have narrowed it down to getting a hybrid as ideally want the bike to be light no suspension but not a full blown road bike as we will be going across the odd park etc.

I been looking at the ridgeback flight 03 but at £999.99 its definatly pricey so I have been thinking really worth it?

On the other end of the scale i have looked at a carrera subway they are about £279.99.

Or on the other hand can someone recommend me a bike?or maybe someone else has one for sale?

Last year I got a kona dew deluxe hybrid for commuting and leisure rides. It a great bike and perfect for what I was using it for.

was being the key word. A change of job and getting hooked to road riding means its only done about 20 miles this year. My shiney new Merida road bike is now the weapon of choice.

So personally I'd go with something at the lower end of of your until you know exactly what type of riding you want to do.

Ps remember to budget for some clothing and accessories. IMHO padded shorts are a must (you can get some that go under baggy shorts if you're not ready for the Lycra look.)

It will be just for occasional use, so pretty sure i want a hybrid.

£1K on a hybrid is nuts, i'd get the boardman for around £500 personally, usual caveat applies, buy it onl ine, take it home, put the bars on yourself, adjust gears with the aid of parktool website and off you go.

I was in Halfords yesterday as a mate picked up a Voodoo Hoodoo or Hoodoo Voodoo one of the two..

They had one of these going for around £800 or so I think - beautiful things!

Our local store was having a refit & they were selling a couple of Boardmans & Voodoo's off.

I've got a Trek hybrid, an FX 7.7 and they are quite light. I think the 7.6 would come in under budget. If you want lighter you need to spend a few hundred more to drop a kilo. I've just got a Whyte Montpellier and I don't think there is a lighter hybrid out there.

Yes it would be. My FX is just over 10kg and feels light.

I am selling a Marin Quake 5.0 which is a fantastic all round stiff framed bike. It needs a little tlc, but with your budget, you can add whatever you think you need and still have beer tokens.

I had the lower end model, FX7.3. Good bike, took me years to kill it off. The wheels are still going strong on the Crosstrail.
