Hi,
I have an S4c (the last one off the line) and I am considering changing to a Griffith in the future.
Having had my S for a few years now is there anything I should look for in a Griffith regarding potential problems or is it just the usual stuff? Anything I should avoid etc etc.
I am on a budget and just at the initial stage of looking at costs etc.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

From a body and chassis point of view much the same as the S (I changed from an S1.5 a few years back). Outriggers are prone to rust but they can be replaced, budget around £1600 if you want someone to do this for you.

Engine wise the V8 is a fairly strong unit, cam wear can be a problem in a car that has been sat around a lot.

Steering racks are unavailable and so any problems means getting them reconditioned by a reputable firm with experience of the TVR rack.

Generally speaking they are a better finished car than the S and the V8 engine is just epic in a car about the same weight as an S. They are by no means perfect. If you find a well cared for example then you'll love it. Suspension re-bush, recent shocks and springs are all good signs, if they haven't been changed then doing that will transform the handling.

Engine wise - everyone has their preferences, they are all very quick. Probably the perfect engine is a 430BV it revs wonderfully and sounds awesome without the cat restrictions of the 500. But I love my 500 which has had the manifolds changed for the ACT sports manifolds, sports cats and cherry bomb exhaust.

There's probably more support, advice and tuning options available on the V8 than the V6 so if that;'s your thing you'll be able to spend as much money as you want perfecting your car.

I know your a long way from the Growl venue but it would be an ideal opportunity to come and look at 100+ Griffs and talk to the owners. It will cement in your mind a preferred engine and colour combo to help you in your search. There's one or two for sale so who knows?
You'd be more than welcome in the S.

Thanks for the info guys.
I wont be able to make the Griff event unfortunately. How do I find out if there are ant Griffs up here (near Edinburgh)?
Cheers.

Why a Griff?
Go for a Chimaera.
They are much better.

I hope I managed to beat the Chimaera Boys.
