Folks,

I had an Insp.2 done on my M3 about a month and a half ago. Nothing major wrong, a few "advisories" on the rear bushes which I intend to get done soon.

This identified that the front pads had 7mm, rear pads 3mm.

I'm planning to get it MOTd and clear up a few minor points in Sept, by that point I'll probably be 2-3000 miles down the road from the Insp. 2 at most.

Are the rear pads likely to be worth doing then? How much "meat" do pads have on from new? And how little "meat" is safe to take them down to?

I realise there are various factors to consider!

For the relativly cheap cost of pads vs new discs I get mine changed every service.

Fair point. If I get the rear bushes done the rear wheels will be off anyway so probably worth doing. I don't do many miles so your approach would probably be overkill for me though!

I think, actually, that the pads at least don't have the ///M tax on them! Calipers are very expensive though.

Why? (Unless you give them an absolute beasting all the time?)

I have had 3 services, and 0 brake pad changes...

Really? Good lord, I'll change them in Sept in that case.
