I need help i am trying to find a car to buy for long distance driving to and from work about 100miles a day.

I have elected to go for an auto just to manage traffic etc. The problem is i am struggling to find a car. I love speed and 0-60 etc.

I was wondering if you could helo

I have a budget of £7000
Need a car thats auto, semi auto, tiptronic or paddleshift and has 4 seats (not bucket something people can sit in)
Something i that is quick or can be done up to get quick easily.

I have been looking for a tuned Honda Jazz but its impossible to find one.

Any suggestions, needs to be good on petrol (mpg)

Thanks in advance

There's a multitude of 5 seater automatic cars out there, you may need to narrow it down a touch.
What do you class as 'good on petrol', and 'fast from 0-60'?

edit: how odd, you answered before I posted.

You can probably get a SEAT Leon FR DSG for £7K. MPG mid 30's (if you drive like a granny) and 0-60 in 7.5 ish.

I'd recommend a big engined saloon but no petrol engined version will get close to 35mpg.

Unless you've got money jumping out your pockets or it's a company car, buy a banger.
What's the point in buying a car to do 20,000 miles a year in for £7k when it is going to be worth £3k a couple of years later.

Interesting fact, the body shell of Jazz is actually stiffer than the Civic Type R. There are some very fast lapping K20 powered Jazz's out there.

wow thank you all for your help really appreciate it, i didnt even know pistonheads had that detailed search option, thanks to the person who sent me the post with the PH semia auto, ph auto etc thing

Maybe the person who said buy a bangor is right but then i ll have two bangors as i have a yellow alto (old style) which whistles while we are driving it, its the wifes car (she hates it) and if get another bangor it will be even worse. Well be known as Mr and Mrs Bangor ahhh

BMW 330D Auto.

Remap it, and you'll have the kind of performance and economy you seek.

Wish people would stop knocking Bangor, I'm sure it's lovely :-)

I'd be looking at a BMW 740i or 750 iL.

If you're spending 400 miles a week in a car, i'd not want a banger that could let me down.
The OP is looking at a £7000 car, not a £70000 car wink
