Looking for a new MTB - anyone got a Cube Analog?

I am still using my old Carrera Gryphon mountain bike I bought from Halfords back in 1998.

It's a bit tired to say the least (much like it's owner ).

I want to get a half-decent hardtail so I can head off-road. Nothing too crazy but want something which can do a job, for around £600, maybe a wee bit more.

One bike which has caught my eye is the Cube Analog Disc (from my LBS http://www.thebikechain.co.uk/Cube-Analog-Disc-14-...

From what I have read online, Cube are a decent brand who offer decent VFm and kit.

Do any of you guys have any experience of Cube bikes, preferably something similar to this model?

Obviously I plan to go and try one out to see how it fits me but just looking to do my homework and get some feedback up front.

Cubes have a fairly decent rep, personally I don't have experience with them but I haven't heard a bad word!

They may be sightly above your price range but have a look at Genesis Core, I was about to buy one last year but went full sus instead.

Also have a good look on eBay and such as you might find a higher spec bike well within your budget that is in good condition.

I have a LTD Race, so a bit dearer, but you can't argue with the value you get with Cubes. Build quality is great too. They are a bit too racy/XC for some people's liking but will still stand up to most uses unless you're big into downhill or jumps.

IIRC this months What Mountain Bike has a review of the Cube Analog along with a few others in the same price range.

Personally I'd be looking at a Carrera Fury at that price range.

Spent most of the winter riding my mates Cube race Ltd and it was a fantastic bike, would throughly reccommend Cube.

Thoroughly recommend Cube too, although I've got no experience of that particular model.

I've recently bought a Cube AMS 29 (120mm full-suss, 29" wheels) and the VFM was incredible, as was the standard or finish and attention to detail. Certainly the best presented and finished bikes at their price IME. The fact it rides very, very well is the icing on the cake.

Just to add if I can find one for £300 odd quid I'll by a used Cube hard tail later in the year for a winter/muddy day hack as it was so much easier than any full sus I've had or ridden.

I've got a Cube Attention which is the same bike but with slighter better componentary all round for an extra £80.

Might be a better bet? Although I understand that it's a slippery slope as another £80 gets you an Acid...

IMO go for it and upgrade bits as they break, that was my plan but I've bought some XT brakes and looking to get some XT shifters as well!

Better fork. The Aim and budget Analog confuse me, they are cheap but the parts are pretty basic. The Carerra range would eat them alive.

Get the Attention, fork is ok but rest of the bike is top notch bar the disc brakes which are bag standard Shimano (same as Aim and Analog).

The Attention is e699, I paid £679 which is RRP. I think you'll save £2-3 tops. Not worth the hassle to buy from Germany?

He won't get that rate with his CC...

The likes of Canyon, Rose and other German direct sellers are reaping the rewards from the slightly weaker Euro but Cube have stuck with their RRP.
