I cant believe how long it took the emergency services to get too this car, what would have happened if it had caught fire?? And this is at Laguna Seca on what looks like a proper race meet, shocking

I make it 1min 41secs from impact to the first member of the rescue crew arriving at the car.

Judging by the speed of the cars passing, it looks like it took a while to get yellow flags out.

Good to see the driver walking away.

Cheers,

Eric smile

That is a disgrace! Surely they should have a safety crew on that corner throughout a race?

No good. Lucky the driver appears to have been okay.

Reading the comments though:-

That made me laugh too...

Can't believe there isn't a Marshalling point on the outside of the Corkscrew!

Question- why dod American Marshalls always drive slowly out to accidents, in European and Asian race series the car/bike is often still rolling to a halt when armies of Orange clad marshalls are flowing over the tyres, extinguishers in hand, literally falling over each other to reach the cars?

I saw this earlier this week and they did take a while, the only person seemed to be that one guy on the other side of the fence (photographer?).

OP, this will really have you fuming then (it certainly made me mad):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=fvwp...

The porsche driver was left to extract himself whilst the marshall ambled over and put out the burning grass, whilst the Ferrari driver was left in an inferno for something like 45 seconds (nomex lasts, what, 15 secs?) before being eventually assisted by another driver out and left on the floor by himself by the marshalls
