So guys i got my new distributor in the car, but a few questions remain:
1. What is the + and - on the amplifier, i don't want to blow it up by wiring it the wrong way around and i cannot for the life of me find any markings on it indicating that. Previous (dead) one was a 35DE8
Edit nevermind found it

2. How can i position it for maximum movement to get the timing right, since it has both the vacuum and amplifier blocking rotation.

First make sure you have timmed the engine on cylinder1 with both valves closed. When you offwr up the new dizy remember the drive gear will make it rotate about 15 or so deg so you will nwed to off set it a little plus get the oil drive to line up...these are so much fun...not...with the engine at tdc check your timming mark on the pully too to see its correct.
You shouls have a little room to turn the dizy and advance the timming as i did on my old setup.
Take your time ans if the bonnet is off its a lot easyer.

Yeah i already took the bonnet off before i started doing it, the gas struts on it are soft (gonna get replacements sometime) and that gives me the opportunity to put some power-kit under the heat insulation. You shouls have a little room to turn the dizy and advance the timming as i did on my old setup.

Whats the best way to see if it's at TDC, spark plug gap and something in there or take the cover off?

I would say if you can take off left rocker cover and a long thin rod in the spark plug hole and watch for both valve rockers to be closed and look at the rod to see id it is totaly out then stars to go back in rhen you know your on tdc. i woyld take all plugs out it make turning over a lot reaser
