Evening all. I'm after some speakers and found the below on eBay.
Call me cynical but I'm not sure they will be very good?

The rear shots in the full description say it all.
1) Despite the speakers aping generic "quality" speakers the rear shots show the cabinets are made of thin chipboard with black ash veneer rolled over (the cheap stuff normally used on entry level pc desktop speakers).
2) very budget looking spring clip cable terminations. No set of speakers with that many drivers, worth it's salt is going to come with those tiny spring clips.
Avoid!
To be honest on eBay I think you are better off looking for a decent set of second hand speakers.
HTH,
R.

Fair enough - that's all the persuading i need.
As you've guessed i'm not really sure what i'm doing.
Having recently bought an Onkyo SR309 amp i bought a set of speakers second hand from by brother in law. Front left and right are mission and the middle is and unknown with a paradigm sub.
At high volumes it sounds great. Movies really do work well.
But at regular volumes i find myself thinking the sound is very distant, often having to increase the volume of the centre speaker to compensate.
It does need setting up however so maybe that will help.
Interested in suggestions, second hand ebay or otherwise.

Take a look at the back of the Missions and list the model number here someone probably knows them (I have owned plenty in my time!).
You may need to get a better centre speaker - second hand is the way to go. Ebay, gumtree or the Hifi forums are excellent and you will save 50-75%+ of list, and you should be able to sell for the same meaning a zero net cost.
Most dialogue will be put through the centre, and it is a good idea to have it matching the other speakers.
Also what do you normally listen to at lower volumes - music or movies? Do you have rear speakers?
