So after a fabulous week of TVR lovelyness it's time for me and the girl to have a pampering weekend. I've got the shampoo and wax out, after a nice drive in the sun I'm going to spend Sunday afternoon with a few cans of Thatchers and giving her the once over thumbup

This has got me thinking, a man can't survive on cleaning alone, I need a few simple-ish DIY jobs to do at the weekend.

I think it's called the 'stepper motor' that controls idle at start up? I plan on cleaning that but I also fancy doing the cooling system. A flush and some nice new hoses perhaps?

Are any of those jobs hard for a novice? Any step by step guides and advice would be great smile

As well as any other ideas you might have for easy DIY jobs to keep me occupied and get my spannering ability up biggrin

TVR's are very easy to work on they are all nuts and bolts. As long as you can wield a spanner those jobs above should be straight forward.

My top tips

Take lots of photos's and drawings before you start and as you go along so you know how it all goes back together.

The old hose's can be tight so some fighting is required or just cut them off with a Stanley blade. If you go silicon route the new ones need trimming just take your time measure twice cut once and all that.

And Enjoy the satisfaction when you have finished and stand back and look at it.

My first DIY job was replacing front and rear discs and pads (and this was out of necessity)...not difficult....

...I have since moved onto interior refurb (and this out of vanity, but happy with the outcome) and for the winter it will be a chassis clean up and rear suspension refurb..

Good luck!

This site, as mentioned above, is a useful intro. to DIY, plus of course a copy of 'the bible'.

Seconded! First thing I did with mine was make sure that it stopped when I wanted it to... hehe

Discs, calipers, pads, flexible hoses and fluid change ... best days work I've done on the old girl.

eek

I'm sure I mentioned the word 'simple' biggrin

I really wouldn't know where to start with something like that. It is something I want doing though.....

I washed and waxed it yesterday before a lovely drive along the coast road to Minehead, so satisfying. I didn't think the wax was doing anything, so I did half the boot lid and stood back, what a difference.

Top down, sun shine and I just happened to be on a date smile I think the car did the trick thumbup Glorious day, glorious car, glorious noise. I love my TVR thumbup

I suppose you're right.... bit of preventative tinkering can't do any harm though, surely smile
