Well for me i love them. I know they seem to have a bit of a marmite appeal on here. But i love them for there simplicity and there ability to keep on going when parts fail. Coupled with the fact they are reletivly cheap to repair when they do finally give up the ghost.

That said in 20 years of owning various Landrovers,Lightweights,101,s,90,s 110,s and a 50th Anniversary 90. None have ever let me down or failed to start.

Well i have just aquired another. This time another S111 Lightweight(Airportable)It was in great condition with no rot what so ever in the body or chassis. In fact the only thing that needed doing was a re-paint as the paintwork had faded. Here are a few pics......

As i bought it....

And preping for a new coat of paint...

And the finished job......

Now at last enjoying some decent warm weather.

Who hates Land Rovers? You'd have to be wrong in the head!

Can't say I am a fan of military ones being used for civvy suff though. Although I guess it's that or being scrapped if they have already been taken out of service.

Didn't realise though that you were doing all that work to it. You should of given me a shout and I'd have popped by to give you a hand.

It wasn't that much work. A days rubbing down and prepping. And a day for painting and fitting back up.

Love them cloud9

I've been a dyed-in-the-wool Landy fanatic for years and years. I'll never sell my pre-production County, and I hope to have many others in the future as well including a few "interesting" sleeper projects

Love them.

Miss my two, had a series 3 for the first car, will never be replaced frown and after that had a series 2a lightweight with a rover 3.5 v8.

Sadley both gone and replaced with a P38 RangeRover. Dosn't feel the same though.

They have become a very rare Landrover. I remember when the first 90 and 110,s were launched with the "County" spec. Simmonites offered a county spec package on older 88,s and 109,s.

They don't look much different from the car Topgear made, each to their own.

Love your lightweight OP, looking more and more likely that my 330ci will be replace with a series or defender type landrover.

It is a good thing we like/dislike different cars - world be would be boring place if we were all the same.

I am a big fan (biased as owned Land Rovers for 28 years), current one, a very early 90, managing 8 mpg at the moment:

I would love a Series III.............Stage 1 V8.
