Our MX5 has a constant chirp/squeak from the passenger side door, when the roof is down. Its either coming from the dash or the door. The car is a 54 plate mk2 if its of any significance.

Anyone had this before, and How did you trace/fix it?

I tried cleaning the seals with silicone oil, and its not made any difference frown

There is a rubber locating thingy below the catch on the door surround, this matches up with a metal piece fastened to the door. The rubber wears & allows the door to bounce up & down slightly.
Try silicone lube on the rubber & a bit of grease on the door latch. If this solves the problem get a new rubber piece. The mounting bolts allow a bit of up & down movement, so if you mark the position of the old unit with a bit of masking tape the new one can be positioned as before.
HTH.

Just read this, and at work at the moment so can't try it. You're probably right though, because I noticed the same chirp when I shut the passenger door the other day. I'll give it a try at the weekend smile
