Off to fill tbe cans with V Power
I do hope that this does not offend the board of Directors of BP or any other fuel companies!
why would it?I do hope that this does not offend the board of Directors of BP or any other fuel companies!
If you also stated you were going for a drive in your Noble it would also not offend aybody.
Oh i get it, are you suggesting that this is the same as picking out an advert and quoting it as if it tangible proof of value of the 600bhp cars, and then usingit to mock the worth of the same peoples cars?? ..oh yes i see the familiarity??..
After the first incident i gave the benefit of doubt and put it down to you just being a bit over zealous and passionate..but now i am starting to think that there is something wrong with you.

No if I wanted to offend you I would just say your car looks like s
t and like someone took to it with a hacksaw,I wouldn't beat around the bush!
Actually I like white cars, I like yours and I like the back end.
Wether I like you is a compleatly different matter because I don't know you.
What I do know is you are reading far too deep into anything I say!

So why would filling up your can offend the big wigs at shell?
Just admit it was another attempt at a witty dig about peoples response to things you say...
but in reality it was not a well thought out example, which just did not make any sense, or bare any relation to what happened on the other thread..

V Power is as good a fuel as any out there (from a normal forecourt).
The 99 is also good and unlike the 95 & 97 they supply. They have had contamination issues with normal stocks 95 & 97, as they dont use the best refinery streams but some of the lower end stuff from what I know.
As for additives, well they all have detergents to their own formula and it is pretty similar as most will be running HiTec 6593 spec detergents. The bit that you all need to worry about is how much ethanol, MTBE & methanol they are putting in. This is something that will change all the time but will be ever present and can cause harm.
Overall though there isnt a lot you can do about it so like I say it is all similar. Can a Noble map handle it? A standard map I beleive is to 95 so it wont make any difference. If you are running a modified map then only you will know what it was map to at the time.
Hope this helps.

For what its worth, I asked Yellowshed about fuel when I had my car remapped earlier this year, I had been putting the Tesco 99 petrol in, his response was that he would prefer to use the Shell optimax or the BP Ultima as he said they had better cleaning properties than the Tesco, hopefully I got that right (sorry if I miss quoted you Trevor)

If your map was done to it then yes. Run whatever fuel your car is mapped to. If however the map is standard and/or to 95 fuel then it wont make any difference performance wise. It will clean your engine a little more than standard 95 and it will reduce the chance of detonation, it may even help with the engine running a fraction cooler but not a lot else.
The basics are that a high end fuel is slightly purer so will burn more completely and evenly. The lower it is the opposite is true. For example if you used a race fuel then you can turn the engine up and improve compression, there by getting more power. I read and hear endless stuff about pump fuel (Tesco, BP, Shell etc) and it is all quite amusing. I run 95 in mine with an occasional tank of V power to aid cleaning. If I had the money I would map it to and run a specialist fuel designed for turbos but that is about £4 a litre and I aint that rich! Would be interesting to do some map runs for comparision though.

Andy, you got it. If you had a tank of 95 when Trevor was to remap it then that is what it is "tuned" to in effect. If you were to then run a high fuel you wont get any power improvement.
If it had 99 in when mapped then running a lower fuel could cause a lose and maybe even damage.
Fuel is one of those things that everyone ignores but can effect the performance and like of an engine a lot. I have known racers that will spend a fortune trying to get that extra few bhp or shave a few 10ths of a lap but wont pay for some decent fuel. And then they moan when they melt a piston!!!!
lol unwittingly Barry started a real informative discussion about fuel.
...i always use octane 100 purely as a safety facor so as to reduce the chance of detonation...
.but my car seems to run smoother on 98 for which is was mapped and i mean smoother as in a literal sense, in that the engine note actually changes and power delivery seem smoother..
