Electrical problem- Sidelights not working any ideas please?
Discussion
Headlights working ok, dash illumination ok, just no +ve supply to the side lights? Early 1992 precat 4.0L, doesnt list any fuse for the sidelights?
Is it possible a wire could have come off the rear of the dashboard button switch?
Thought i would ask before diving into a dashboard removal.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Phil.

Before you start pulling your dash top off.
If it's anything like my Chim I recommend checking the earth tang on the sidelight bulb holder in the headlight itself.

OK, I've had this on my 96 grif 500. Did not have any rear lights or dipped lights. Main and full beam Headlights worked ok. For me though the dash illumination also did not work.
The button for the side lights has 2 wires on the output. One failed giving me this problem, just needed to swap the switch on the dash.
In addition to the earthing check already suggested, note that there is also a multiplug to check, which is easy to get to as it is behind the carpet beside the passenger seat. A problem here could also cause this issue.

Is this plug a +ve feed split front/rear? Where abouts is this plug, you say under the carpet, do you know is it sill or transmission tunnel side (just to save me pulling up too much carpet)? Thanks for all the hints chaps, hope to sort it tonight.
Cheers.

gavgavgav i see you have been here before..and i can see in this earlier thread that you say the front/rear split connector is by the passenger door pillar so i will look there too, thanks.

Hi,
Cant help with the wiring question but may save you a dash out job....
If you remove the stereo and air vents you should be able to get your hand up to the back side of the switches or at least get a mirror in to work out what is going on.
