Anyone know about aircon?
Discussion
Hi, I went to get an aircon recharge at the local kwik-fit today, was told to come back in an hour so when I did the chap said it didn't work.
He wouldn't/couldn't expand on why it wouldn't work but said there were no leaks in the system and I would have to take it to Alfa
(its a GT I have btw).
The condensor or is it compressor? clicks in when the button is pressed and there is a slight change in the airflow noise inside the car, so I presume thats ok.
So if there are no leaks and the compressor/condensor clicks in what could the problem be?
Is it worth taking it to another branch and trying again as there is no charge if they can't get it working/colder or is a trip to an aircon specialists on the cards.
Thanks all.

I'd imagine the a/c refills are little more than tell the machine what car it is, clip on the pipes, and press a large green button.
See if you can find a regular mobile a/c guy, there's plenty about that go between garages, and should be able to sort you out for £40-50 (providing they aren't a similar franchised operation that only know where the green button is too)

The only reason you need an A/C re-gas is because you've got an A/C problem. Namely a leak.
Consider yourself lucky to have escaped the cowboys and get someone who knows what they're doing to take a proper look at the system and fix the problem. Otherwise you're just wasting your money on new gas which will leak out the same hole as the old gas....
