Back on the road
Discussion
After an extended break in my garage the Tuscan is back on the road and feeling good. Work pressures
I have done all the work myself and I bought a project which is no where near finished, I am sure the list is getting longer, but there is nothing as nerve wracking as when you turn the key for the first time. You can work on these cars, and they are relatively simple compared to other stuff out there.
The reason I was posting was that I have been driving around in my E46 M3 which should be a fair comparison.
BMW is quicker point to point, so much confidence, electronics, bigger tyres, clinical, still edgy though, almost boring, 340hp str 6 much more refined, never worry about reliability (although they had a few scares in the early days with small ends and rods). Gearbox is light and positive.
The TVR is brutal and is one of the few cars that still scares the living daylights out of me, absolute occasion to drive, I feel like some kind of stealth bomber pilot on warmup, the noise, the smell, the pops and bangs, the looks you get, the look of the car (it almost looks like it is going to rip your head off just stood still).
I love them both for different reasons and I wouldn't want to get rid of either.
Right back to that list.........

Thats good news Neill, you seem to have timed it right with the weather too!
I did a driving day on friday, drove an lp640, a gallardo, and a 360 we got to push the cars really hard, and to be honest in a straight line none of them really felt any quicker than the Tuscan. Maybe its because I didnt feel like i could die any minute in them and they didnt really make a noise like the devil breathing when you floored them.
The gallardo did grip hard through the corners which I havent yet developed the courage to do in the Tuscan. In terms of bang for buck though I think the tuscans unbeatable!

Could jump back in?
I sort of lost the passion for mine over the winter, but driving it for the last couple of days has been a revelation. I am like a kid in a sweet shop, having taken it all apart I am now a bit happier than before.
Any idea on the next ride Nick?
Not as fast as Tusc, but I have always fancied a Renault Alpine GTA.... I sort of lost the passion for mine over the winter, but driving it for the last couple of days has been a revelation. I am like a kid in a sweet shop, having taken it all apart I am now a bit happier than before.

Must admit the thought of an M3 with its refinement and reliability is sometimes appealing. I have been looking of late....i dont have the time to keep up with the niggles which upsets me as i like the car to be A1...
But, roof off, the noise, the power, the character, its like nothing else.
It shakes the windows as i arrive in the car park at work, and i normally get an audience as i park up....an M3 just wouldnt do that, its an 'everyday' car, not an occasion...
So, even if its sometimes stuck for a few days until i can get to the niggles, its definitely worth it....

I'm doing a track day this weekend with a choice of porsche Oakley , tvr 350 , gallardo , Ferrari , Nissan gtr , Tuscan, and jag xkr the only trouble is I can only choose three what do I take ?
From recent experience, Id go Gallardo, T350, GTR. I had wanted to drive the GTR last week but apparently it was Knackered back with Nissan, I had really wanted a go in it, and ended up having to settle for the Murcialago.Gassing Station | Tuscan | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
