Mk5 Fiesta Zetec 1.4 Performance Questions

In just under a week, I'm going to be buying a 2003 Fiesta 1.4 Zetec, and I have a few questions concerning performance. Firstly, compared to my first car (a 1.5 Proton Wira), I'm interested to know what the performance of the zetec engine is like on the whole, as I have never driven one previously. I'm aware the zetec isn't neck breathtakingly fast, but I do like a car with a bit of poke, especially when overtaking, and since the torque numbers look fairly promising, I'm hoping someone can shine some light on their experience with this car.

I would imagine it will near identical to the Proton performance wise. I would expect it to be a better drive though

Its an alright car to drive, had mine for a month now, tis quite torquey when you are half way up the gears, very slow out of first though, ive been told they are well worth getting remapped and regular servicing is a must on them, performance falls away very quickly with dirty/used parts

It wont be worth getting it remapped. I assume we are talking about the petrol one anyway

i had my 2007 zetec when i was 18, and at the time was superior to anything my friends had, was nippy at the time. Last year i had a mk7 of the same version....oh how sluggish it felt!

All round though i loved mine and has good enough poke for a safe overtake!
