Car feels really fast and eager when its cool in the engine bay, but when everything heats up, the car feels more sluggish... kind of makes sense, but what mods fixes this?

I have:
  • Clive ypiece
  • Smooth elbow
  • Heat reflector around pipe from AFM to airfilter
Was thinking of:
  • Heat shield around AFM
  • Carbon trumpets and trumpet base gasket thingy
  • Remove precats to get temp down...
Its been really hot lately 25C+ ... Has anyone powdercoated their plenum to insulate from heat?

Ive fitted the ACT afm heat shield recently and so far it seems to of made a massive difference. Tickover when warm used to fluctuate all over the place, since fitment it just settles at 800 rpm no problems even over this weekend.

I cannot see any downside to cutting down underbonnet temperatures and the best way to do that is to take out the pre-cats and ceramic coat the manifolds and Y piece at the same time.

Had some heatshielding material left and wrapped the AFM in it today... Its like a thin sheet of metal with ceramic wool on one side. Worked really well! Will test some more, by getting the enginebay really hot, driving around town etc...

While it's true the pre-cats are in the manifolds and the N/S manifold is close to the AFM, initially I wouldn't focus your energies on the little pre-cats.

They really aren't that much of a restriction compared with the big main cat, & it's the restriction that bottle necks the heat.

It's not until you remove the big main main cat that you will start to see a significant reduction in under bonnet temperatures.

Remove the main cat first, then if you still want to clear all restriction move onto the pre-cats.

In my first post I stated that I have Clives Y piece... that replaces the cat!

Apologies OleVix, I missed that.

For some reason I was uncontrollably drawn directly to the Ribol Dribble.

Good luck with reducing the heat.

You really are giving the plumber a run for his money lately, and winning IMO hehe

There are some DIY products out there but unfortunately the only way to do ceramic coating properly is by taking the parts off and getting them done professionally. I see you are in the rim refurb game, it is the same difference as you powder coating a wheel v someone painting them at home with an aero.

(BTW I notice you are based in Norway, you lucky so and so, cruising by the fjords in a V8 TVR - magic!)
