There is a classic car show this weekend at Wollaton Park in Nottingham called Autokarna – it’s held yearly and this time it’s on Sunday 3/Monday 4 June.

http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/index.aspx?articl...

It’s a pretty good day out with an eclectic mix of classics (cars, bikes, commercial vehicles etc).

Anyone planning on going?

Yep, I'll be there, weather permitting

This was last year's event. An excellent show with a real wide mix of classics and a prettyl good auto jumble as well.

And it you want to make a weekend of it, the following day is the Nottinghamshire Classic Car show at Southwell Racecourse.

The weather is the key mate!

Just seen the BBC forecast and it looks like it's gonna piss down with rain all day so I might give the show a miss...

Bloody weather!

Might bimble along as only live a couple of miles away. Probably won't take an interesting car as I understand you had to book about a month ago to be on a club stand.

Can't resist an autojumble!

Total washout! I feel for all the folks that prepared their cars just to stand and watch it p!ss down all day, there were very few classics left by 2pm and hardly any public. Lets hope for better weather tomorrow.

Afraid rain stopped play for me. Just couldn't see the point in this weather. Went to Chatsworth for the TVR gathering a few weeks ago despite the horrible weather - that was enough for this summer!

Weather forecast looks OK for tomorrow so I'll be heading over. I only live a couple of miles away from Wollaton park so I can confirm that it's been raining heavily all day - one of my mates went along and said the place was deserted.

Glad I washed & polished the Amazon yesterday!

Well, went along and had a cracking day... followed by a few pints in the pub. I was a little pissed off though: I spent a couple of hours washing polishing my car on Saturday only to get slightly bogged down in a muddy patch which resulted in an unfortunate bit of wheel spinning. Needless to say, my formally clean car swiftly became a bit muddy!

Anyway, some pics of the Amazon:

Well, I guessed wrong. I spotted your Amazon and presumed you'd been there on the Saturday to get the wheels muddied up. Also guessed it wasn't that standard with those wheels on it? Nice car.

Had a good bimble around and look at other stuff - will get some pics up later.

Cheers mate... the car is far from stock: Cragar 14 inch wheels (the excessively wide rear tyres will be changed soon), Weber downdraft conversion, 4 branch manifold, Cobra Daytona seats, performance exhaust, electric windows... the list goes on!

I managed to convince more than one person that the 'mud' was in fact a special rally effect paint finish which had taken me hours to achieve with a pot of expensive artificial mud substitute, an artist's sable brush equipped with a fine point & a painstaking 'stippling' technique! biglaugh

Didn't take as many pics as I'd thought - just a couple of Austin specials.

This one - a conventional Austin Special (with Faust66's Amazon just visible in the background)

And this rather more "Special" Special - well unusual anyway.

Apparently based on a Caterham chassis. Was attracting a lot of attention.
