Hi all, Just thought I would say hi. Been viewing this site for a couple of weeks prior to buying my first TVR. Well got me a chim, picked it up tonight, looked at 2 others. They were both genuine cars but not quite right for me. Got me a 93L in cooper green (don't be too hard on me I know blue is the new black) 57k full history, mature owner and gave me the biggest......er...um...smile 
when I drove it. Ok its green and its an early one but it is so genuine and so well loved by its previous owner that I think its the right car for me at a very reasonable price. However I have a couple of problems, firstly great wheather today and no sunscreen so pink is clashing with the biscuit interior. Secondly not sure if the pain on my face is the effect of the sun or too much smiling. On a minor note, the footwell is blowing hot air which seems to be coming from a split vent pipe on the right hand side. so can anyone recomend a good fix for sun burn? oh the pipe! who cares?! What a car, what a thrill, why didn't I do this sooner!!!! sorry for rambling on and thanks for reading. wiggy.

Two things you need to pack in your boot - Suncream for summer & a wooly hat for winter (you did realise you have to drive with the roof off even when it's cold/winter didn't you?)
have you been to a meet/convoy of your local TVRCC? highly recommended...

thanks all, I think I am going to enjoy this. I cant stop driving it! Think I wound the neighbors up this morning when I went to work at 4.45 am....ah well they will get over it.. Have realised I haven't seen so many friends of late so thought it only fair to go visiting, flying visit ofcourse, didn't want the seat to get cold
I bought a 93 4.3 in Green Starmist with 30k and a warranty for 11k and fear I paid too much. Just got emotional and cannot understand because I am a usually tough. It was the acceleration in second gear that did for me almost as good as an org---. I forgive it the many rough edges, I think I may be in love!

Yes Wiggy it is a peach and thanks for saying the price is right. The diff is a bit noisy however I will get this refurbed under warranty. The steering wanders and the ride height is too low. I think the springs have compacted. I will reseach options, rates/lengths etc. Good to keep a car to standard spec however adjustable dampers that allow you also to adjust ride height seem a very desireable luxury so that a suitable set up can be arrived at. I will need to check steering bushes geometry etc
Bringing back the duty free and dealing with speed bumps suggests to me a tad more suspension travel is desireable.
280bhp seems more than adequate however I do think the front brakes could be bigger so thats another research project to find value for money stopping power.
Apart from this the Chimaera seems like Ferrari performance at a sensible price. Yes it has faults but all cars do. Owning a boxster at £25k would be pretty boring after owning a TVR.

as you said mate, a few rough edges but thats half the fun, gives you something to do when its raining. I think its got good performance, the tourque is the smack in the back that does it for me, the overall bhp..... me i change before it revs get that far because the next gear has a big wall of tourque. Haven't had an issue with the brakes yet but haven't given it the berries for a long distance to try them for fade etc. I do agree they do look small and as for single pot sliding calipers my old mk1 escort rs2000 had better ones! but if they work, as they seem to at the moment but i reserve judgement, what the hey ho.
