Buying guide.

Hey there

. I looking to buy myself an 03 - 05 mx5 in the next few weeks.

Does anyone have any advice in terms of what to look out for?

Here's a guide for the Mk1: http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/forums/p/425/782.aspx . The Mk2 isn't much different, but you don't need to worry about HLAs.

The main things to look for are:

- rusty sills (or signs of poor repairs)
- leaking roofs (perished roof seals)
- badly-repaired crash damage
- binding brake calipers
- dodgy coilpacks
- poor suspension parts

+ rusty rear wheelarches and corrosion under the bootlid (around the drain-holes and number plate lamps)

Consensus seems to be that the Mk2.5s you're looking at are the worst for rust.
