I was going to say a slightly modified Volvo Valp, but it's probably a Pinzgauer.

After an hour of Google Fu, this is what I was going to suggest too. They have a history of being chopped around too which would explain the unusual front door/hard top/roof combo, which I reckon are custom add ons after it started life as a soft top.

The Halflinger is also very small which fits with the photo. A Pinzgauer would look huge in comparison to the cars parked next to it.

Definitely not a Pinzgauer. The haflinger has the split windscreen and wipers facing opposite directions like the one pictured smile

Do they make the Volvo with a split screen?

The older ones had a split screen I believe.

The Volvo C303's nose doesn't drop down so far.

definitely a modified Haflinger, check out the headlight/indicator bit, the whole front end really (and the size, as said)

edit: plus the Australian Army had some, so explains how it got there

We used to have two of these fairly unstoppable offroad.

Weighed them both in for scrap didn't realise how much they would be worth now frown
