Cars that manufactures made worse
Discussion
I took the OHs Suzuki Swift (2008 model) in for a service yesterday and was given a 2012 model as a loan car.
They have ruined it!
It looks worse.
Interior materials are nastier to look at and touch.
the ergonomics of the cabin are now less comfortable and it is harder to get to various buttons.
It is awful to drive. The gear lever feels like it is set in custard compared to the nice direct feel of the OHs older model. The pedals and steering have no feel or weight to them in the new model. It feels like you are driving a car with a computer in control that takes a while to do what you ask of it where the old car is really direct.
The seats were more restrictive and uncomfortable. Its harder to place on the road as the driving position is a bit different and it feels a lot bigger.
On the plus side it was slightly more economical than the OHs old model. Which I suppose is about the only criteria that matters to most people
Safe to say we won't be upgrading to a new version at any point.
Are there any other cars that you feel have taken a major step back?

Ford KA.
It went from a fun little bubble powered by dreams and unicorn wishes to a generic eurobox with no character at all.
As the post above says, most "normal" cars have taken many steps back from a driving point of view thanks to the masses wanting soft and comfortable and the regulations changing constantly to promote weight.

Looks like ford are on a roll. The MK1 focus was a gem with pretty individual styling for its time. Every car since has been a pile. I kept my MK 2 for about 6 months and sold it before I died of boredom. And I pulled into a petrol station next to the new model this morning - it's a bum. Just a smelly old bum.
