Dont know alot about it. Quite nice trim with full leather and only 60 k milles. Its got a full ticket but no tax.

So really i cant afford to run it properly. But think summer toy for beaches pre any deployments apart from olympics then get rid.

Any advice on these as i know f all about them. Are they good?

Thankss

Cos its thirsty and he wants rid. He offered it to me for that as hes ex forces and thought i might enjoy it over the summer. Tbh if he says its. A good motor, its sound. I just wanted advice on these cars.

Also to note. This would be used for beach runs for 4 or very ocasionally 5 blokes and similar nights out to clubs etc... Tbh im assuming it will be a nicer funner drive than my diesel megane. Just wanted your guys advice.

Don't know much about them, tbh.

If it's 500 quid with a long MOT what's the worst that can happen? It'll be worth a few hundred quid scrap anyway smile

What model is it? S-type, X-type (read Mondeo I believe hehe)

Certainly this! Would be stupid not to have it for £500!

They're really nice cars, I bought a 3.0 a month or so ago and it's been great smoking about in it!

I had reservations about the 2.5 but for £500 I'd be willing to put them to one side

£500! Why you even asking, get that money spent. Run it for the summer, sell it in 4 months time with 2 mnths tax, 8 mnths mot and a big profit.

and remember they are 4x4 so you could either cash in come the winter OR have a fine winter runabout.

I would juts pop by the cash point on the way to his house.

If it's only £500 I'd rather suspect the AWD transfer box is about to fall apart, or autobox unless it's manual, but if it's not making nasty noises or leaking then buy it and enjoy a spot of Jagness. It's nothing like a Mondeo to drive, don't listen to people who spout internet bks.

It's a decent place to sit too. I've had my 3.0 the larger part of 2 years and love it.

Service parts are cheap (Ford) which makes it cheap to keep on the road and it's fairly easy to work on.

Plenty of them in breakers for other items.

Do it smile

If its someone you know and and you are confident the car is good, then get it bought, or send him my way.

Its not the most popular car in the world, for various reasons, but for £500 you could run it for while with no cost or even a small profit less, the running costs of course.

If its AWD, and the tyres need changing as winter is looming, get some second hand winters on it, and you could find quite strong market for a cheap AWD car with winters already fitted. Or keep it yourself for that exact reason.

fk that!

Buy it for £500, sell at the beginning of winter (it's 4WD afterall!) for £2500.

That's what 2003 models easily go for in that condition and mileage.

A mate of ours has one that's just about to hit 200,000 miles, runs very well indeed he says. It's needed nothing more than tyres, servicing, brake pads/discs and a few bushes here and there. Althougb having said he did say the aircon had a leak in it and wasn't working but for that mileage that's not bad!

Insure an X-Type on a classic policy? Your mate is a living e-Bay advert.
