Vauxhall Agila Door Barrel / Key Problem

Hi all.
My recently acquired Agila has got a bit of a problem, in that the door look has eaten my key.
I put the key in to unlock it, and the barrel was just spinning with nothing happening. Tried to take the key out to go unlock from the other side, and key wouldn't come out.
It's seriously stuck. Been 3 days now and I can't get the lock to release it. Seems to be a common problem, but no one who has had the problem has followed up by posting their solution!
Got the door card off, and can loosen the door lock, but can't seem to get it out.
Any help? I do have a spare key, but not really happy driving around with they key protruding from the lock!
