Slack steering peugeot 205

Hi all, I have a Pug 205 D with power steering. Sometimes when first started up, the steering doesn't seem as good as it should be. Like I can turn the wheel to 2 'o clock but it almost goes in a straight line. It seems fine after a couple of minutes. Any ideas?

Check the cheaper tings first like track-rod ends, maybe tracking etc but really if it is a problem that disappears with time it sounds like it may be more expensive (Rack or PAS pump).

You could replace either but if the cost is mega just blank off the pump and put a non-PAS rack on it.
